The practice nurses offer a full range of services in our treatment room, including
This clinic is run to advise, investigate and manage the care of asthma. Our nursing staff have special training and expertise in this field.
Our practice nurse Christine runs the diabetic clinic to ensure all patients manage their diabetic conditions with as much support as possible. Patients will have regular reviews with Christine or one of the doctors, and is available for appointments each week to discuss any concerns you may have.
We also have a number of other chronic illness clinics for other problems such as Hypertension, COPD etc.
This clinic is run to advise on general health matters, and where appropriate to screen patients for problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, and asthma.
We also provide up to date advice on preventing health problems whilst abroad and on immunisation for foreign travel. Please make an appointment to discuss your requirements with our nurses at least 6 weeks before you travel. This will allow enough time to enable us to assess what is required and administer the required vaccinations depending on your area of travel.
Both doctors and nurses provide a full range of contraceptive services, including advice on all methods of contraception. We are also able to provide “morning after” contraception.
These are provided at regular intervals as recommended by current guidelines. They are normally performed by the practice nurses, but can be arranged with the doctor if preferred. Patients eligible for screening will be called via our screening system, but please call us if you have any concerns at all.
The doctors and midwife provide antenatal and postnatal care, so that every pregnant woman is seen regularly. Pre-conceptual advice is also available.
We provide a wide range of minor operations within the practice; this provides prompt services for patients and avoids unnecessary trips to the hospital. Minor Surgery clinics are held regularly on a Thursday afternoon with Dr Adams who has specialist training and qualifications in this area and in dermatology.
In usual working hours our trained nurses will attend to any minor injuries within the practice. Please ring the surgery first to check that your injury is suitable for our services. A&E Can be avoided if this service is used appropriately.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel please ask at reception for a list of local travel vaccination clinics. We will provide patients with a list of vaccinations already given to take with them to their appointment on request.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
