Practice Nurse Clinics

Our Practice Nurse is Susan Davies (top) and together with Nurse Barbara Maudsley and our Health Care Assistant Alison (bottom) they efficiently offer a range of clinical services from our treatment rooms. 

Their aim is to make sure that our patients healthcare needs are efficiently addressed and managed with the utmost care and attention.  Together with a friendly approach you can be sure that your health is being properly looked after.

Asthma

This clinic is run to advise, investigate and manage the care of asthma. Our nursing staff have special training and expertise in this field. 

Diabetes

Our Practice Nurse runs the diabetic clinic to ensure all patients manage their diabetic conditions with as much support as possible.  Patients will have regular reviews with the nurse or one of the doctors, and is available for appointments each week to discuss any concerns you may have.

We also have a number of other chronic illness clinics for other problems such as Hypertension and COPD.

Well Person

This clinic is run to advise on general health matters, and where appropriate to screen patients for problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, and asthma.

Contraception Advice

If you require help and advice on contraception or family planning make an appointment with either your doctor.

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception is available directly from pharmacists. If you would like emergency contraception from the practice you need to make an urgent appointment or urgent telephone consultation with a doctor or contraception nurse.

Emergency contraception needs to be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sexual intercourse within a maximum of 72 hours.

Cervical Smears

These are provided at regular intervals as recommended by current guidelines. They are normally performed by the practice nurses, but can be arranged with the doctor if preferred. Patients eligible for screening will be called via our screening system, but please call us if you have any concerns at all.

Maternity Care

The doctors and midwife provide antenatal and postnatal care, so that every pregnant woman is seen regularly. Pre-conceptual advice is also available

Minor Surgery 

We provide a wide range of minor operations within the practice; this provides prompt services for patients and avoids unnecessary trips to the hospital. Minor Surgery clinics are held regularly on a Thursday afternoon with Dr Edwards who has specialist training and qualifications in this area and in dermatology.

Minor Injuries

In usual working hours our trained nurses will attend to any minor injuries within the practice.  Please ring the surgery first to check that your injury is suitable for our services. A&E Can be avoided if this service is used appropriately.
